Half-cut cells
- Cells are cut in half so more of them fit on a panel, increasing energy output
- The top and bottom halves work independently, so more energy is produced even if one half is shaded
- Half-cut modules have 120 to 144 cells and usually use PERC technology
- Module efficiency of about 21% to 23%, well above conventional modules
PERC (passivated emitter and rear contact)
- A simple, cost-effective way to produce more power from the same area
- A passivation layer at the back of the cell reflects unused light back into the cell so it can be absorbed
- Reduces electron-hole recombination and heat absorption
